Sony Vaio W goes green and eco friendly

With almost all the producers upgrading their netbooks for the new PineTrail platform, Sony went on another road to make their products once more get in front of the crowd: the eco friendly one.

That means that they upgraded their Sony Vaio W line with the new hardware but also tried to use as many green (enviroment-friendly) parts as possible: mercury-free LED display, body made out of recycled plastic, new carry-bag that saves CO2 emissions during the build process and no paper manual anymore (is offered in electronic format).

I do care about our planet but i really wonder how much of this entire thing is marketing scam and how much is actually true. Anyway, intention is good at least, as migrating to greener technologies used in all domains is the thing to do right now, if we want to be able to still inhabit the planet in the next tens of years.

Aesthecically, the new Eco Friendly Vaio W is very much the same as the previous versions, but it will only be available in white and light green, at least in the early days.

The device will hit the stores in February 2010 and hopefully it won’t be more expensive as the curent Vaio Ws that run for $499 (still enxpensive when compared with the competition).
