Toshiba Satellite T210 – 11.6 inch netbook with some power

The guys on Toshiba work on a new device, the Toshiba Satellite T210, an 11.6 inch netbook with great features and powerful hardware (new ULV Arrandale from Intel).

I for one am a very big fan on the smaller 10 inch Toshiba NB305, and from what i can see in the press pictures available, the T210 will bring the same construction and chassis, only slightly bigger. This means we’ll get the light-textured matte casing, the big trackpad and the ergonomic metallic-like chiclet keyboard, but this time in Full size.

I also like that the bezel around the screen is fairly small, thus the T210 should be also pretty compact. Add this detail the fact that it will only be 0.7 inch thick and will only weight around 3.2 pounds and you’ll end up with quite an interesting portable laptop.

The real goodies lie inside though. Toshiba plans to offer the Satellite T210 with the Intel Pentium U5400 processor, 3 GB of DDR3 memory, 250 GB hard-drives, top connectivity and Windows 7 Home Premium OS. All these completed with a 6 Cell battery life capable of around 8 hours of life.

It’s a shame there won’t be a Core i3/i5 processor on this one, but that option would have made it quite expensive. In this configuration though, we could expect it to go for around $500-$600 bucks, which would be fair for such a device. However, we have no details on availability for the US market or pricing for the moment, but we should see the T210 in Europe from July.

All in all, the Toshiba Satellite T210 has a big chance to become one of the most popular 11.6 inch mini laptops in the second part of this year. Those looking for something faster than a standard 10 inch netbook, but still portable, will probably find a great pick in this one. But while things sound pretty good right now, we still have to wait and see how good will be this Toshiba in practice. My fingers are crossed though, I’d be disappointed if it didn’t raise to (my) expectations.
