Touch netbooks could explode in the next years
I’ve told you before, i for one am not a very big fan of touchscreens. Although i use a touch MP3 player and i like it, i don’t own a touch phone and nor do i see the purpose of having a touch laptop. But, i believe the explanation is simple: i don’t use any applications that would really require a touch enabled display, not at the moment. But this could change pretty soon.
Most computers in the world use operating systems developed by Microsoft. Previous version of Windows offered limited support to touch software. However, Windows 7 will represent a huge leap forward, as it will support multi touch. Microsoft showed us with their Surface technology what can really be achieved with a touch screen and i believe that was only the beginning, as many new apps will be developed in the next years , all using touch commands and features. Applications that will become useful to us.

Microsoft showed us what a touch display can do. But they were just pioneers
Especially on netbooks. Netbooks are small and portable. Most of them don’t offer a proper keyboard and doing stuff with the cramped touchpad is just awful sometimes. That’s why new applications and software that would make our lives with these mini notebooks better will surely be quickly embraced by users all around the globe. And here’s where touch software comes into play. It will probably start small, on new operating systems like Moblin, Android, etc. And will grow faster than you could imagine, once people understand the benefits of such simpler to use applications.

Light OSes could lead the way for touch applications
As you might have noticed, more and more producers launch netbooks with touch displays. Some are even working on touch tablets without a keyboard, some including Apple. And you know what they did with their iPhone and iPod Touch, imagine what they could do to netbooks.
I’m not saying touch netbooks will be next year’s big thing, but they’ definitely explode in the next years, and what now only feels like a caprice, will become quickly a necessity.
Don’t you think?
