Viliv S10 is almost here – get ready for it

One of the most expected mini laptops of the beginning of 2010 is the Viliv S10, the 10 inch ultra-compact tablet netbook  with good hardware and looks. With a market developing for such devices, the Viliv will compete with the likes of Asus T101MT,  Lenovo S10-3t or Gygabite T1000P. But will actually be better, and here’s why:

• will be more compact, slimmer and lighter – you will be able to hold it with one arm while surfing in tablet mode
• comes with a multi-touch HD 10 inch screen (1366 x 768) and although resistive, it’s responsive and works well with your finger or the provided stylus
• comes with SSD storage and integrated 3G (unfortunately there’s only 1 GB of RAM, but that can be improved) – you can easily access the SSD drive and upgrade it
• offers up to 2 GHz processors (the Z550) + GMA 500, thus performance should be better than what you get on the N450 platform
• comes with up to 10 hours battery life, which is better than the competitors can offer

Of course, there are some bad points. First, there’s a standard keyboard, not a chiclet one, but works pretty good nonetheless. And there’s of course the price matter, as the Viliv will cost from $699 to $$1049 . Check the option below (via UMPC Portal ):

You will be able to order the Viliv S10s from Dynamism.com starting March 25th, but they’ll only start shipping around April 22nd. The good part is that you get bonuses and discounts for pre-orders and I doubt they will be available also. So check out Dynamism.com for more details.

Also, Viliv announced they’ll bring their devices in the US via BestBuy and probably other stores also, so you’ll be able to check them out physically before buying. More details in the weeks to come.
