While Acer and Asus take a break, HP plans new netbooks
In the last year we’ve seen new netbooks coming out every week, most of them being made by Asus. I for one know that I’ve tested so many EEE PC’s that I’ve got sick of them
.
Perhaps many got confused by the so many netbooks invading the market and that’s maybe one of the reasons Asus and Acer announced they’re going to take a break and not release any completely new models till the end of this year, according to Slashgear. Of course, there are still a couple of netbooks already announced to be launched later this year, like the dual boot Android + Windows laptop from Asus, a couple of 12″ EEE PCs or a couple of touch-screen Asus tablet-PCs like the T101H . So, this only means that less netbooks will be launched in the next 9 months from these producers, and not none.
After all, Asus and Acer lead sales in the netbook’s segment, so it’s perhaps a smart choice for them to take it slowly for a little bit and save some money.
Other producers on the other hand might profit and attack the market with new and better products. And this is exactly what HP is planning to do, as they just announced they’re preparing new 10.1″ and 11.6″ models by the end of this year. That means they might be launched just in time for the winter sales period and they might come with the new Intel Atom improved platform (will go live during this fall) and Windows 7 . Combine these with good prices and we might get new rankings in the netbook segment by the end of 2009, don’t you think?
