You can get the Acer Aspire AS1410 for $449 on Amazon

It seems that the new Aspire AS1410 is now finally available on Amazon.com for just $449.

In case you know nothing about it, the Aspire  AS1410 is the new 11.6″ sub-laptop from Acer. I didn’t call it a netbook, because like all most netbooks on the market , this one doesn’t use the Intel Atom platform but a CULV processor. We’re talking about the 1.4 GHZ SU3500 version, backed up by an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD, 2 GB of RAM and a 250 GB hard-drive. And that’s also more than the competitors could offer.

Speaking of competitors, one of the main ones is Asus’s EEE PC 1101HA we tested earlier, but in terms of hardware specs (translated in raw power and performances) , the Acer Aspire AS1410 is one class above. Actually, it would compete more with devices like the Asus UX30 or the MSI X-Slim X320 (those are only a little bigger).

Besides good hardware, this sub-laptop houses a HD ready 11.6″ screen, a decent sized keyboard and all the connectivity options and ports we would expect from such a device: Wi-fi Draf N , Bluetooth, USBs, HDMI output, etc.

The only thing i don’t like about this Acer is the battery. As we already know from their 10″ netbooks, battery life on Acers is poorer than the one offered by the competitors. So while the EEE PC 1101HA has a 6 Cell battery with up to 11 hours autonomy, this one has a similar 6 Cell battery that can only squeeze up to 6 hours. However ,the faster hardware claims the guilt for that for sure.

Acer Aspire AS1410 - top notch performances for its price

Acer Aspire AS1410 - top notch performances for its price

All in all, i consider this Aspire AS1410 a very good solution for those looking for a more powerful mini-notebook and willing to sacrifice autonomy a bit. And the price of just $449 is definitely well worth it (actually, I don’t see anything better for a better price at the moment).

Hey i heard a dual core version would be coming out soon. Any idea if any other brands (like asus) will be following up with similarly equipped 11″ netbooks?

  • http://www.netbooklive.com Mike

yeah, i believe we’ll see more dual core powered netbooks soon. Asus for instance are preparing the Ul20A with a dual power CULV CPU. And also, once the new PineTrail line of CPUs gets out, it might contain some dual core Atoms .

yeah i hear the revo is gonna get the dual core N330 sometime in the near-ish future. not really a netbook tho :)
